1. Driver Education Course Completion (U-Certificate)
To get the Notice of Driver Education Course Completion Form (U-Certificate), a student must meet all the following requirements:
Classroom instruction (either in person or online) must be completed before starting in-vehicle driving lessons.
Class 7 GDL and Class 5 GDL licence holders must complete 15 hours of classroom instruction and at least 10 hours of in-vehicle driving lessons.
Class 5 Full (Non-GDL) or higher-class licence holders must complete 15 hours of classroom instruction and at least 6 hours of in-vehicle driving lessons.
Students must score at least 80% in the classroom course and 75% in driving lessons.
If a student does not meet the standard set by Alberta Transportation, they may need to do at least 2 extra hours to reach 75%, depending on the instructor’s recommendation.
2. Feedback to Student
Feedback is given during the driving lesson.
The instructor will let you know which areas need improvement and which areas are getting better to help you become a safe and defensive driver.
The instructor and student can take a 5-minute break during the lesson.
3. Vehicle for Road Test
A vehicle for the road test is not included in the package.
There is a charge for it, so you should talk to the instructor about the cost and availability before booking the test.
The student should contact the instructor to check if a car is available for the road test.
If the car is not used for the test, there is no refund.
If a student adds 10 more hours to the package after buying a 10-hour package, car rental is not free. The student may get a discounted price for lessons.
4. Time to Complete Driving Hours
The student must finish all driving hours within 6 months of registration.
If the driving hours are not completed within 2 years, a $100 penalty applies.
5. Audio/Video Recording Policy
Driving lessons May be audio and video recorded for the safety of students and instructors and to improve the quality of lessons.
6. Student Records & Certificates
Student records are kept for two years according to Alberta Transportation standards.
The school is not responsible for records after two years.
A $50 fee is charged for duplicate copies of a certificate.
7. Driving Lessons & Conduct
Road training is only provided in OMNI Driving School vehicles.
Students must maintain good personal hygiene.
Clothing with animal hair is not allowed due to allergy concerns.
The instructor can cancel lessons if these conditions are not met, and the lesson fees still apply.
8. Lesson Cancellation Policy
At least 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel a driving lesson.
If a student does not give enough notice, a $50 cancellation fee applies.
9. Scheduling Changes
OMNI Driving School reserves the right to reschedule or change training sessions with reasonable notice in case of an emergency.
10. Pick-Up and Drop-Off Location
The pick-up and drop-off location will be the same as mentioned in the registration.
Any change in location should be discussed with the driving instructor before scheduling lessons.
Students should be ready 5 minutes before their driving lesson.
For in-class theory lessons, students must arrange their own transportation based on the location of the session.
They should check the address in advance.
Students should arrive 5 minutes before the start time for the theory class.
11. Traffic Violations
Any traffic violations during the road test or road training due to the student’s actions are the student’s responsibility to pay for.
12. Refund Policy
If driving lessons have started, $50 per hour plus GST will be charged, and the remaining balance will be refunded (hourly pricing depends on the package and location).
If classroom training (in-person or online) has started or been completed, $100 will be deducted from the refund.
A $50 administration fee will be deducted, and the remaining amount will be refunded if a student withdraws from the course.
The full course must be completed within 6 months of registration.
No refunds are given after that time.
